The Beer Brewing tradition in Friuli Venezia Giulia

written on 2020 June 3rd

Today I was looking at these two vintage bottles. You would not believe how much history and items you can collect in Italy. One of those bottles has the label "Birra Pordenone", apparently one of many beers, but there is more, a long history and tradition behind that name.

If you have never been to Italy you need to know there is a region "Friuli Venezia Giulia". It's right in the North-East of Italy, close to Slovenia. Well, in such a region there is a long Brewing tradition you would not believe.

I have tried so many beers around the World, but as soon as I go to Italy I have to get my Birra Moretti. This is one of the oldest beers from Friuli. Could you guess how old it is? I'm talking about a brand that exists since 1859, created by Luigi Moretti in the City of Udine.

A brand that today is owned by the dutch Heineken, but that still has behind the old good Italian tradition. Because the secret of a beer is to keep the tradition. The brand can be sold, the tools can be renovated, but the secret has kept forever.

Pordenone is trying to share the passion for the Italian tradition, but at the same time showcase all the flags and brands. Because the real Beer fans want to seek the differences.

You can taste Beers from all over the World in the Pordenone Beer Show. Enjoy and get drunk!
