The Republic Day in Italy in 2020, beyond the Coronavirus

So many things have been happening in 2020: from the virus to mass hysteria, to angry protesters.


The country around the World have not given up though on celebrating their veterans and national holidays. Well, Italy makes no exception!

With the virus disappearing and the country reopening this is going to be a special Republic Day, in Italian "Festa della Repubblica".



What is the celebration about? It was on June 2, 1946, when finally the Italians, by referendum, decided to stop the 85 years long Savoia Dynasty and the last 20 years of Fascist Dictatorship. Italy became a Republic based on the Constitution. Bye, Bye Monarchy!!

But this year this day appears to be more important, maybe it reminds people that after all, we are free to make our choices, free to democratically determine our destiny, a destiny that not even a virus can change...
