Calzone in Brooklyn from 1952 !

This is a history that started in South Italy. There is a small coastal town in Italy called Mola di Bari. This is where two migrants, Giovanni and Onofrio, were born.

The young men migrated to the United States and were enough lucky and smart to buy in 1952 a restaurant called "Simone's", name that then they changed to "The House of Pizza & Calzone".

Their secret was based upon simplicity, affordability($0.10 a slice of pizza, practically free!) and super taste of the food. They served poor people in South Brooklyn with love, and their special skills they imported from their country of origin.

At some point, they retired, precisely in 2004, and sold the place.

But nothing has stopped The House from prospering. The special recipes and tradition has been untouched since then.

You can visit it right now and find some of the most typical southern fried dishes: from Deep Fried Calzone to Zeppoles(yeah you hear me "Zeppoles", don't forget this name, we will get there in the future) to Meatballs and so on and so forth...
